Slavery Disclosure
Ordinance
The Slavery
Disclosure Ordinance was introduced to the San Francisco
Board of Supervisors by Supervisor Sophie Maxwell and
co-sponsored by Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, the ordinance
would require all major corporations doing business with
the city to disclose any past ties they may have to
slavery.
In the fall of
2006 the San Francisco Board of Supervisors
co-sponsored and then passed the San Francisco Slavery
Disclosure Ordinance.
The Slavery Disclosure Ordinance was signed by Mayor Gavin
Newsom.
